Principal Scientist
Minimum/General Experience
Seventeen or more years of technical experience providing internal
and external consulting services to management and technical staff
in solving complex information issues. Requires competence in
feasibility studies and cost/benefit analyses, hardware and software
evaluation, developing IS standards and methodologies, and business
process re-engineering. Possesses knowledge of the state-of-the-art
in information technology and systems management. Skilled in complex
system engineering design experience and developing systems architecture.
Possesses superior knowledge of best system development practices.
Analyzes and assess the functional requirements and system specifications
and translates them into a comprehensive system architecture.
Functional Responsibility
Provide leadership and guidance on complex design and implementation
issues to entire staff. Develops and applies organization wide
information models for use in designing and building integrated,
shared software and database management systems. Assists in establishing
standards for information systems procedures. Experienced in information
systems development, functional and data requirements analysis,
systems analysis and design, programming, program design, and
documentation preparation. Decides on strategy and direction taking
into account projects current requirements, known future direction
and the possible needs that are currently unknown. Makes organizational
wide decisions on what tools and technologies are applicable.
Is functionally equivalent to a CTO with more hands-on involvement
in technology implementation.
Minimum Education
Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or
Information Technology related field, Mathematics, Engineering
or Applied Science. 10 Years of experience can be substituted
for a Bachelor’s Degree.
