Printer Asset Management

Unlike other hardware asset management solutions, SiteAudit can discover all printers on a network-whether directly attached to a PC or connected through a network-and has the capability to manage their costs. SiteAudit drives down printer costs by collecting up to 500 pieces of individual printer data to fuel a set of high-powered management analytics. Customers rely on SiteAudit's comprehensive data collection and analytics to avoid and manage procurement, help desk, warranty and service, and administration costs. SiteAudit is also used to audit billing and service performance, and reduce costs, from managed service providers.

Key Features

SiteAudit features are best understood from the four grid views from which users can group, sort and sum data.

  • The Inventory view provides the baseline for cost management, and identifies printers by their IP address, name, serial number, make and model, output type, location and connection.
  • The Incident History and Problem Analysis views give the help desk user a detailed description of the error incident, the frequency of the error and the amount of printer downtime. Users can drill down to see the problem's severity and whether the error requires a service technician or can be handled by an untrained user.
  • The Assessment Details view enables a company to assess its print volume needs to negotiate and procure the right number and type of printers. It tracks costs by individual printer, or summarized by make, model, and location. Analyzing printer utilization against department and company-wide utilization provides decision makers justification to redeploy or retire underutilized printer assets. SiteAudit saves on warranty expense by identifying the critical printer assets that need guaranteed uptime. Companies often overspend on warranty by purchasing unneeded blanket warranties.
  • A set of built-in Reports facilitates invoice auditing, supplies reordering, inventory management and total print cost tracking. Data can be exported as Microsoft Excel XLS, HTML and text formats.
  • Printers are organized in a nested tree-structured view by how the company is set up, for example, by department or by location.
Platform Requirements

SiteAudit runs on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and above; requires Microsoft SQL Server 2005 for large environments; Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005 for small environments.

Printer Asset Lifecycle Management

Printers have a product lifecycle akin to other IT assets. SiteAudit helps customers manage their printer asset lifecycle. There are unrecognized and unmanaged costs associated with each phase that silently drain company profits. SiteAudit can reduce these costs by managing all four phases of the asset lifecycle: Plan and Deployment, Inventory and Manage, Service Maintenance and Upgrade, and Asset Retirement.

Target Users

SiteAudit is targeted for use by IT procurement, IT asset managers, help desk and financial managers in organizations with a minimum of 500 PCs up to enterprise-level WANs. Key vertical markets include financial services, insurance, health care, education and government and organizations with a high demand for office printing.
